This modern East Cobb basement & bathroom renovation deserves to be in a magazine!
This Chimney Springs basement remodel took this home to the next level, with a new living space, wet bar, outdoor area, and a spectacular bathroom. The family heard about Atlanta Curb Appeal through their neighbors. Interestingly, the family actually referred two other clients to us before working with us themselves!
The homeowners had a strong vision about the design and style they wanted in the home and were delighted that we were able to pull it off.
First, we upgraded the basement with a gigantic bathroom and renovated bedroom. We also added a screened-in porch, pool deck, additional outdoor storage, a gym, and a wet bar. To do this, we completely dismantled the existing basement, moved around walls, and opened up the space to create a clean and practical living area for them.
The homeowners were inspired to add on, partially because of the pandemic. For one thing, we were able to recreate a gym in the basement after the homeowner’s gym was shut down. We moved around some plumbing to create a wet bar near the pool entrance. The modern tile reminds you of a slightly busy but more monochromatic Piet Mondrian piece.
We used Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) on the floors. This is an excellent choice for the basement and flooring near a pool. That is because, even though it looks like a stylish wood floor, it is much more water-resistant.
Next up, we created the largest shower we have ever made! It is an incredible tiled walk-in space with a luxurious shower and free-standing tub. It’s like one huge room!
The Japanese- inspired bathroom stool keeps the towels dry and off the floor. The matching vanities have gorgeous bowl sinks with stylish lighting fixtures.

We also relocated the stairs on the back porch, updated the railing, and created the storage space out by the pool so that they can keep all pool toys and equipment out of sight and out of mind. ACA recommended the design for the storage space: a much more attractive and sturdy option to the traditional lattice. We used pressure-treated deck boards for the storage space so the look will last!
Because of some material shortages and the size of this project, the renovation took a little longer than our normal renovation. The homeowners were so pleased with the outcome! Their excellent modern taste now shows through in every room.
