Gorgeous East Cobb Kitchen in Chimney Springs!

This beautiful, detailed renovation was completed in record time!

Our neighbors in East Cobb were looking to completely renovate the kitchen, master bathroom, flooring, and closet in their 1970’s home. Atlanta Curb Appeal did a major makeover that involved knocking out walls, moving an entire kitchen, and creating custom shelving. And they did it all in just six weeks!

ACA has done several renovations in the Chimney Springs neighborhood, so this family knew exactly whom they could trust for this major renovation, and they were very happy with the results.

The kitchen was very small and enclosed, with no room for an island. ACA took out three walls to open the space and relocate the kitchen; doing this they were able to create a much larger kitchen and island! Who couldn’t use a bigger kitchen for meal prep and entertainment? Beautiful subway tile and new modern lighting make this kitchen look straight from the pages of a magazine!

The sink in the island makes cooking on the stove a breeze!

Of course, moving the kitchen did come with challenges. Since the home was built on a slab, the master plumber used a video to locate the existing plumbing. That way they knew where to tie into for the new plumbing location. Using creative solutions at the start means less work on the back end.

The owners chose a newer line of cabinets – it is called York. They also chose to install top of the line quartzite countertops in a gorgeous style called Brazilian Taj Mahal.

The flooring is engineered hardwood. It is made up of a thin wood veneer on top. Underneath, there is a layer of high-density wood. Though the cost is comparable to traditional hardwood, engineered wood has become a very popular alternative because it is designed to reduce moisture issues that are common with traditional wood. It is also easier to install, which reduces labor costs.

ACA also gutted the entire bathroom and rebuilt the closet.

They added two windows to the bathroom, and installed custom shelving in the bathroom and closet in a farmhouse style. The shower now has a place to sit down if needed, and the frameless glass shower doors give a beautiful modern touch. The shower wall tile has an amazing pattern that is so unique you can’t take your eyes off of it!

Despite the beautiful finishes and rapid completion time, the project stayed within budget. The client could not believe it! They loved how it turned out!

Stunning Indian Hills Kitchen Makeover!

Stunning! What a transformation of this Indian Hills Kitchen!

Recently, Atlanta Curb Appeal partnered with an artistic homeowner to create this gorgeous modern kitchen remodel. The East Cobb couple first contacted ACA after their kitchen flooded. They decided to use the disaster as an opportunity to create their dream kitchen.

Since there was so much damage, they were going to have to rip out some of the original 1980’s-style kitchen flooring. The client took this cue to go ahead and remodel the kitchen to their heart’s desire, totally transforming the space. The homeowner is by trade an art professor and did most of the design drawings herself. ACA worked closely with her to give her the look she designed. For color inspiration, the client searched through home design magazines to find shades that resonated with her. ACA provided 3D plans with elevations to help visualize how their East Cobb dream kitchen would finally layout.

First up, ACA removed the old builder-grade cabinets and countertops and knocked out some walls to create a much more open, light-filled space. The challenge was to open up the space by removing the wall between the kitchen and the dining area. This required a new support beam, but it allowed for an enormous island and separate beverage bar. We also removed the old tile and concrete in the kitchen, but sadly discovered that the subfloor was not level. Because Atlanta Curb Appeal only does things the right way, we leveled the entire floor before laying down a new true hardwood. The wood was then sanded, stained, and finished with three coats of polyurethane to protect it from heavy kitchen use and potential water damage.

Another bonus of this new kitchen space is the double ovens. The client loves to cook and entertain, so having the bar stools in the kitchen allows the conversations to flow during parties!

One of the most unique features of this kitchen is the cabinets. They are flat panel cabinet doors, which are created using high-quality fiberboard and a wood veneer. This gives the cabinets new, sleek, modern lines. While many people choose white cabinetry, the combination of dark and light cabinets gave this space a more contemporary look. The clean lines of the cabinets and floors, combined with the textures of the artwork and furniture, made the kitchen visually pleasing. The best part is the increase in the overall space. By removing the wall and adding the long pantry, bar, and island, they expanded their storage space by an astonishing 25%!

The homeowners appreciated being able to collaborate and create together with ACA and love their dream kitchen. They expressed how appreciative they were that ACA stayed on budget and on schedule.

Gorgeous Modern East Cobb Kitchen Makeover

What do you do when your 40-year-old kitchen still has its original builder’s grade cabinets and wood paneled ceilings? You call Atlanta Curb Appeal! This East Cobb family was ready for a change. Kitchens are the heart of the home and having order and space can help the chaos feel manageable!

One of the biggest changes was the removal of the wall that closed off the kitchen from the main foyer. The wall was attached to a coat closet, and losing both would allow more visibility from the kitchen of the front door. And when you have 2 small children, observation is important.

In place of the previous kitchen cabinets, the family chose colonial white shaker cabinets and a navy tile backsplash. The contrast gives the effect of a much larger kitchen while adding light and depth to the room. These kitchen styles are on trend now, yet also simple enough to endure style changes down the road.

The family also wanted a much larger island than the house had originally, so ACA designed a greatly expanded one. The new island added additional cabinet space in the kitchen, as well as a spot that incorporates the microwave. It looks amazing under the new modern lighting piece.

New countertops were made of quartz. This is a wonderful choice for a family because they are tough to stain and they do not require special treatment. ACA also replaced the wood panels in the ceiling with drywall. Then, they re-worked the skylights by finishing the edges and adding new trim.

See Atlanta Curb Appeal’s Kitchen Gallery

Flooring was also updated throughout the entire house. The family decided to go with LVP, or luxury vinyl planking, with gorgeous brown and gray tones. LVP is often more affordable than hardwoods and is a smart choice for kitchens because it is less likely to sustain water damage than hardwood. It is also good for kids because it is durable. The new LVP style choices are miles better than your mother’s linoleum.

The transformation is stunning, making the home more modern and functional for a family with small children. They are glad they took our advice to get rid of the coat closet. They were extremely happy with the end result!

Ready to finally have the kitchen of your dreams? Atlanta Curb Appeal can make it happen.

Impressive East Cobb Kitchen Makeover

The owners of this home are return customers who came back to Atlanta Curb Appeal for their dream kitchen. In just six weeks, they were left with a more open and workable space, with a beautiful quartz island and much more storage.

ACA had the opportunity to upgrade this family’s master bathroom in the past, so when they decided that their 1980’s kitchen needed some major shifts to give it an open, modern feel, they contacted ACA again for this transformation.

Before Atlanta Curb Appeal Makeover

Before Atlanta Curb Appeal Makeover

This family of four enjoys cooking at home, and they wanted more space to cook, entertain, and spend time together. And they definitely wanted new cabinets. The finished product gave them about 50% more space to work in. It also provides much more storage, especially under the island.

For this family, the island is the center of entertainment when people come over, so they wanted to go big. The family selected a beautiful slab of quartz. Quartz is ideal for an island because it does not require any of the special treatment granite needs, it is heat resistant, and, of course, it is always beautiful. The new flooring accents the modern look, replacing the tile with a gorgeous oak hardwood.

To accomplish such an open feel and add a double oven, the owners and ACA decided to swap the location of the refrigerator and oven. That meant that they had to adjust the electrical wiring, plumbing, and HVAC hookups throughout the room. They also widened the doorway between the kitchen and the dining room and living space.

Even with those major adjustments, ACA was able to complete the project in six weeks – and stay within the family’s budget. The family said they are blown away by the timing, the final product, and that it was completed at no additional cost!

The client shared with us in a text, “Wow, what a difference 6 weeks makes!! Unbelievable transformation of the downstairs. You guys are amazing!!!”

Atlanta Curb Appeal loves making people’s dream kitchens and basements come true!

Sensational! Chef Inspired Kitchen Remodel in East Cobb!

What do you do when your cabinets are builder grade, but your taste is modern and fresh? Time for a makeover! We recently wrapped up a beautiful kitchen in East Cobb. The transformation is spectacular!

Initially, the clients had found Atlanta Curb Appeal through Facebook, quite a while back. However, they wanted to be careful and get several bids. After weighing their options, Atlanta Curb Appeal emerged as the clear winner to rebuild their new chef-inspired kitchen.

Their reason for wanting a renovation was because the current kitchen felt dated. It had the original builder’s grade cabinets and a small island. Overall, the atmosphere was cramped, Atlanta Curb Appeal’s new design would have a similar layout but have a more open floor plan.

First up on the project was the demolition of one of the walls. This removal allowed for an increase in the pantry area. The new pantry would now have a more uniform appearance since all the drawers and doors matched and tied into the kitchen design instead of being behind a door (like most typical kitchens). Assuredly, the cabinets were nearly the first to go, since they were what the clients disliked the most.

After the cabinets were installed, new countertops were added. These new beautiful surfaces are all high-end quality quartz. The new colors made for a lighter experience in the room.

More great custom touches, like a water faucet, were added above the stove. It’s perfect when one wants to cook pasta! No need to walk across the kitchen anymore. Plus, new warmer lights were added to keep the food warm after cooking. A new hood above the stove caps off the range top. The custom hood was the last piece to put in since it took the longest to be delivered.

The floors were gloriously transformed too! Old kitchen floor tile was removed and matching true 3/4″ red oak Provincial-colored hardwood was installed. Sanding and finishing were done on all the main level floors. It looks fantastic.

Looking at this new kitchen, one may wonder how much new space was added. At least 150% extra storage was added when you take into consideration the larger island, new pantry, etc.

The clients are extremely happy with their new kitchen. They have already recommended Atlanta Curb Appeal to their friends and neighbors. In fact, Atlanta Curb Appeal will be starting their neighbor’s basement next week!

They loved working with Atlanta Curb Appeal and even gave the crew gifts and a very lovely and useful gift to Andy and Avi. Andy and Avi said it was almost sad to pick up the last check and say goodbye since a great connection was made with the both of them!

Shiplap, Butcher Block & Barn Doors, A Whole House Remodel in East Cobb

Whole House Update!

Recently, Atlanta Curb Appeal was contacted regarding a whole house makeover near Walton High School. The homeowner, a realtor, had heard of Atlanta Curb Appeal through several clients and coworkers. The home, while beautiful, had some major issues. Atlanta Curb Appeal worked with the client on the design and agreed upon a budget and timeline; then it was time to get to work!

Some of the updates only took a few days, like the replacing of exterior rotting wood, the adding of new gutters, and the installation of new shutters. However, inside the home, the projects were more numerous and more complicated. Hardwoods needed to be replaced, and an accent wall created. A new style seen on a lot of the HGTV shows is shiplap. We added it to the wall running next to the living room, and it is seriously stunning! The entry into the living room was modernized by adding a new rolling barn door. This finished living area now looks like something out of a magazine! Next up was one of our favorite rooms to remodel: the kitchen!

Typically, kitchen remodels are requested for one of three reasons: a poorly planned traffic pattern, an outdated style, or a genuine need for all new appliances.   This home had all three! The builder-grade honey-colored wood cabinets and the small center island were just not working for this family’s busy life.

First up for the new kitchen design was a different layout. Previously, the oven and hood were located near a doorway and weren’t close enough to the island to be useful. To remedy this, we installed the new stove and stainless steel hood closer to the window. To break things up, we decided to incorporate a detailed tile backsplash design above the stovetop. The client picked out the tile and described to us how they wanted their design; it turned out perfectly.

After this, new cabinets in white were selected and then installed in the kitchen. Taller units were added next to the refrigerator to create a utility space for pantry use. The cabinets sold today offer a much broader range of storage solutions. Whether your struggle is managing the pile of Tupperware or keeping the dog food off the floor, the units sold today are much more custom. Honestly, when you have a place for everything, it’s easier to keep your kitchen tidy.

Next up, Atlanta Curb Appeal added stainless steel appliances and a new island with an enormous, gorgeous granite countertop. It is perfect for big or small meal preps and entertaining friends and family. Finally, a beautiful new desk area was installed so that work could be wrapped up while cooking!

Another part of the kitchen remodeling was the addition of a custom wine cooler with functional dark wood butcher block countertop. The wood was a nice break from all the new granite in the room. The cabinets were customized to fit around the cooler.

No project is considered complete on our end until we get feedback from the client. We are thrilled to say that they are very pleased with how everything turned out. They started with a dated house, inside and out, and had the vision and budget to make their dream home a reality. They truly were great to work with from start to finish!

Massive Makeover in East Cobb

Massive Makeover In East Cobb

New clients find Atlanta Curb Appeal in different ways, and we are honored to say a good number by referral and word of mouth. Recently, this East Cobb family had watched their friends and neighbors five houses down wrap up a remodeling project with Atlanta Curb Appeal. After seeing the final results, they decided it was time to go forward with us on their dream kitchen renovation.

At first, we did a lot of brainstorming with the client. The atmosphere was fun and light as we worked through the planning process. In the beginning stage, before the first hammer falls, there is typically a level of excitement as we explore all the possibilities. It’s like having a new house to play with if your contractor has real insight and vision.

This project was going to be a good-sized renovation, with many moving parts. Adding new rooms to a home creates extra work versus a one-room improvement. Together, we agreed on a timeline and budget and then got started.

Step one of renovations began with a huge demolition. Dismantling the kitchen, the powder room, and the ceilings upstairs. After the dust had settled, our framing crews came in. In addition to the simple room location changes, a few new areas were being created.

The original style of the kitchen was closed off and constrictive; on one side was a bathroom next to the living room. However, to make this space bigger, we had to expand. There was a quite an extensive framework of plumbing, HVAC vents, and electrical that we had to reroute to accomplish this. Next up was a new laundry room on the attic side space. Then a powder room was going where the former closet space was, near the back stairs and garage. Once we completed the framing, electrical and plumbing, we sliced the hardwood floors to patch all areas affected and sanded the whole main level to match.

To maintain the calm and serene energy of a modern gray kitchen, we installed new white shaker-style cabinets, a new island, and new pantry cabinets. Over the stove, the new stainless hood complimented the pale shade of the subway tile. Gorgeous new granite countertops were also added. They picked these out along with the granite backsplash in our showroom. Never underestimate the power of new lighting setups in a renovation. The new can lights and dimmers now create an amazing atmosphere.

As we were completing the kitchen, they decided they wanted a mini bar, too. Adding a few cabinets and matching granite top made this little addition perfect for entertaining. A new wine cooler finished the area with a custom fit into the new cabinets.

We are proud to say this is one of our most beautiful renovations in East Cobb. The transformation was astonishing, and the clients are thrilled with our ideas and the outcome. They were fantastic to work with throughout the project; They were so patient and fun to be with during the whole process.

Custom Garage is a Mom’s Organizational Dream

Recently, Atlanta Curb Appeal wrapped up a customization job in East Cobb. It was a mom’s organizational dream! We tackled the kitchen, the laundry room, and every family’s black hole, the garage!

islandcustommariettakitchen

First, in the kitchen, the family was in need of a central work area that was functional. The kitchen had an island, but it was too small and was made with a composite material that they didn’t care for. Our crew was able to build a custom island topped with a beautiful piece of quartzite; because of this, the larger surface allows stools to be pulled up underneath for added eating spaces. Below, each side is different: one side holds a new shelf for cookbooks; another, space large enough for double trashcans, a cabinet with a door, and finally three large drawers.

customislandeastcobbkitchenkitchenislandeastcobb

Next up was a custom garage. Like any active, sports-minded family, the garage is the storage place and dumping ground for everything that doesn’t belong in the house. And, if you’re lucky, the car can fit, too. To modify the garage, we first sectioned off a realistic space in the back to fit the two vehicles.

img_1963

Second, we built a massive cabinet wall customized to their needs, which included their second refrigerator, tools, and paint cans. The father, who is a sports coach, has a lot of equipment to keep up with, and this new space helps him stay organized. This custom garage has everything, including big pullout drawers for the two dogs’ food storage. Everything has a place. To finish, we painted it and gave the floor a shiny and durable epoxy treatment.

One nice touch was the new bike rack. The client wanted the bikes off the floor, so we created a storage area by installing a wood rack secured to the ceiling joist. Now, the bikes are safely hanging out of the way.

bikerackgaragecustom

Finally, we expanded the small laundry room in the house by absorbing some of the storage space from the garage.

laundryroommakeovereastcobbmudroom-laundry-room-east-cobb

This new interior area allowed us to create a beautiful and functional mudroom, which included a larger laundry area with a new entrance from the garage. No more tracking bags and dirty gear into the house.

Notice the extra space above the dryer and the storage in the mudroom bench.

Initially, Atlanta Curb Appeal connected with this family through one of our biggest fans. This particular client has continually recommended us to his group of friends, resulting in four different house projects!

barndoorisland

The clients are beyond thrilled with the results. In fact, they said they loved all the guys from our crews so much that wanted to adopt them! We enjoyed working with them throughout the project, too. They are a very kind and patient family, and we wish them the best in their new organized space.

Stunning Whole House Makeover with European Kitchen East Cobb

Stunning Whole House Makeover in East Cobb

KitchenRemodelEastCobb

Standard becomes stunning for this Atlanta Curb Appeal house makeover. From the outside, the building was similar to most homes built in the late ’80s, a two-story house in a friendly East Cobb subdivision. Like many of the homes, the interior had standard builder finishes, with traditional room layouts.

IMG_0147 BEFOREIMG_0131

What made the clients decide to get their house renovated? It was a recent purchase; they knew that the home was going to need help. It had the original carpets, kitchen the kitchen cabinets were dated, as were all the bathrooms.

What was the big change they were looking to make? They wanted an open floor plan, new hardwood floors, a European kitchen, and all new appliances.

LongviewKitchenRemodelEastCobb

What did Atlanta Curb Appeal do for them? First, we opened some walls and installed header beams. Header beams help to support the above weight and create the look of open areas.

KitchenLeadEastCobb

Broadening of the hallway to ease the flow of traffic to the living spaces. We also removed the long dividing wall between the kitchen and dining area, allowing a vast and open space. Consequently, this significant change required us to re-route all the electrical, plumbing, and gas systems in the kitchen. New paint and hardwood floors were next on the list. Custom-made cabinets, lighting, and a new island transformed the space into a designer-styled kitchen.

EuropeanKitchenRenovationEastCobb

Next we started demolition of the living room wainscoting and wall cabinets. The fireplace got a makeover too! We resurfaced it with marble tile all the way to ceiling and added a custom reclaimed wood mantel. New oak stairs, new custom oak handrails, and square aluminum balusters completed the main and second floors.

FireplaceMarbleAtlatnaCurbAppeal

When you are working on a renovation of that scale, what is the first step? Demolition is always first. Then comes moving the walls and installing support beams. It’s best to get the messy, dirty stuff out of the way. Always remember to change HVAC filters frequently during the renovations.

CustomFireplaceEastCobb

How did you pick out the finishes? The clients enjoy design and European aesthetic. With help of ideas for architecture magazines, Pinterest and Houzz, they came up with their vision. We helped them identify materials needed to meet their vision. The results were dramatic and beautiful.

MiniWetBarEastCobb

Why did you choose some brands over others—was it the price, quality, etc.? We did a lot of research with the client and figured out which manufacturers had the best-quality items using the budget we had set up originally.

What is the most custom part of the entire renovation? There were a few areas where they requested a special touch and attention: the railing system, the barn door and closet in the master bedroom.

CustomStaircaseEastCobb

Did your encounter any surprises? Getting the big oven hood in the kitchen to vent outside properly took more time than we expected. Reconfiguring the plumbing and the HVAC ducts that were hidden inside the removed walls ended up taking more time and effort too.

LivingRoomEastCobb

What has been the biggest change that the client has enjoyed so far? The large, open concept kitchen and dining space with the long island that is also open to the living room. They also love the leathered granite that they selected. It is extremely unique and is a great conversation piece.

We Got to Be Their Remodeling Hero!

How Did Your Client Find You?

It is the strangest story! Her renovation contractor didn’t show up on Day 1 of her renovations. She quickly got on an East Cobb Mom’s Facebook group and asked for advice on what to do. Atlanta Curb Appeal was recommended. We met her in a day, agreed to a plan of action and we had our crew start work the next morning. Our client said that it was quite a whirlwind. She was thrilled that within 14 days, her home renovations including bathroom remodeling were completed!

Was it a small project since it only took two weeks?

Not at all. That’s what makes her story so amazing. Here is what she got in just two weeks:

  • New kitchen renovation with new cabinets and countertops
  • New bamboo hardwoods
  • New master bathroom remodel
  • New powder room remodel
  • New electrical work
  • New plumbing work
  • New recessed lighting
  • Interior paint on walls and trim throughout the whole house
  • New carpet upstairs

What are the benefits to having Bamboo Hardwoods?

Bamboo flooring is known for its strength, durability, it’s eco-friendliness and natural resistance to insects and moisture.

BambooFlooringAtlantaCurbAppeal

Are they more costly?

Bamboo hardwoods are not much more expensive. It is not popular with homeowners yet, but its interest is growing. One caveat is that it should only be used in areas where there is not excessive moisture. That can damage it.

Tell us about the Master Bathroom Remodel.

The master bathroom turned out beautifully. It was complete makeover! Everything was demolished during the demolition phase and built from the ground up.

We put in new bathroom floor tile with coordinating wall tile around the shower and tub. Then Atlanta Curb Appeal installed frameless glass shower doors, which are very popular. The client chose white shaker style vanities and lighting throughout. The new lighting required a fair bit of electrical work. We then finished off the bathroom remodel with mirrors, towel bars, new paint, and baseboards. It is truly a brand new space. You wouldn’t recognize it from the before pictures!

BathroomNewTileAfterAtlantaCurbAppeal

Why did they want to update their home, did they have problems with the layout?

No technical problems existed; they were just ready to upgrade the look of the original house.

Are they happy with their finished home?

Absolutely! They sent us a thank you note (see below) and have already referred us 3 new clients! We are so happy that we could make their dreams come true on time.

Here is just one of the testimonials they sent us.

Good evening Avi and Andy,

We just wanted to touch base with you and let you know how much we appreciate all of the hard work you have been putting into our house.
